This Image Isn't Real - AI Clickbait Takes Over

PLUS: Reddit Blackout: Why The Protests Are Still Going – and What Happens Next

Good morning! Today we’re covering the AI-generated clickbait site which has combined Trump, Fauci, and DeSantis, Reddit’s blackout continuing, with 3,600 subreddits still down and OpenAI CEO urging inclusive generative AI development.

Let’s get to it!

Before we dive in, here’s some early feedback on our premium newsletter released last week!

“I enjoyed how it's broken down by different careers like Academia, Software Engineering, and Sales. Having a walkthrough of common use cases and the best tools recommended for each makes me feel comfortable that I'm applying generative AI in the right way and not missing out.”

Carmichael R., Researcher

“I'd been searching for a comprehensive but understandable primer for learning how to incorporate the recent developments in AI into my business. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this resource and will be recommending it to others.”

Michael A., CEO of Startup

“The structured learning curriculum alone is worth the money for the premium membership. I've found it hard to cut through the noise and prioritise learning materials, but this was exactly what I needed. Thanks a ton! ”

Top News & Why It Matters

| AI-Generated Clickbait Site Hilariously Mashes Up Trump, Fauci, And DeSantis

Imagine a world where AI-generated immersive junk blends with politics and entertainment. The Enlightened Mindset, a clickbait site entirely AI-generated, serves up "spectacularly wretched images" and articles. Meanwhile, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' presidential campaign video features suspiciously AI-generated images of former President Trump getting cosy with Anthony Fauci, the former White House Chief Medical Advisor. Beware, this unsettling blend of AI, politics, and entertainment appears to be just getting started. futurism, futurism

Why does this matter?

As AI-generated content floods the internet, mixing with real news and political discourse, our collective ability to discern fiction from reality may become increasingly challenged. Will we be enticed by AI-generated junk or sink deeper into partisan manipulation through the use of deep fakes? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain, we're in for a wild ride.

| Reddit Blackout: Why The Protests Are Still Going – and What Happens Next

Reddit's blackout continues, with aftershocks still hitting the site, despite most of it being back up and running. Over 3,600 subreddits remain in the dark, with several of the largest subreddits (r/pics, r/gifs, and r/aww) only allowing posts about comedian John Oliver. Reddit CEO Steve Huffman's comments and a threatening letter to moderators have fueled the ongoing protests. It appears that Reddit remains confident in its stance and won't let the protests change its business decision regarding new API charges. techradar

Why does this matter?

The blackout has been damaging for Reddit in terms of reputation, revenue, and engagement levels, but not enough for it to reconsider its API plans. As the vast majority of subreddits return, Reddit's position strengthens, offering a very different context from previous blackouts. This indicates a significant shift in the site's direction and approach to third-party apps and user experience.

| Generative AI Should Be More Inclusive As It Evolves, According To OpenAI's CEO

Generative AI needs to be more inclusive as it evolves, and OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, has got thoughts on the matter.

He believes that benefits from AI must be shared to change the inequality game.

AI needs to be steered away from concentrating power and wealth. Instead, AI should be used to solve the world's problems. zdnet

Why does this matter?

Innovations in AI have the potential to both unite humanity and create pockets of concentrated power. To avoid dystopian consequences, thought leaders like Altman advocate for inclusivity to achieve a better balance. OpenAI's focus on sharing benefits and problem-solving reflects this mindset.
