Generative AI for Non-Developers
Generative AI, the unsung hero of low-code and no-code tools, is quietly revolutionizing software development. Developer adoption is well underway, with a third of respondents in an O'Reilly report already utilizing AI-based programming tools. Yet, the true potential of these tools as productivity boosters remains to be fully realized. Notably, developers' biggest struggle with these new tools lies in training and ease of use, accounting for almost half of all respondents.
As mastery over generative AI code grows among the developer community, a ripple effect will ensue in the non-developer space. This technology promises to change the way software is built, tested, and deployed, adding a fresh dimension to the low and no-code movement. Expect to witness a surge of use cases for generative and conversational AI in the coming years, with the convergence of no-code and generative AI enabling both developers and non-developers to use visual drag-and-drop tools more proficiently. zdnet
Why does this matter?
By lowering the barriers to entry for non-developers, we could see a shift in the balance of power within the tech industry, ultimately leading to a broader range of people creating and shaping software.
Microsoft Gains An Edge Over Google In Latest Cloud Earnings
In the latest earnings showdown, Microsoft's cloud prowess overshadows Google's performance, thanks to a significant boost from AI investments. Despite Google's robust overall growth, the tech giant's cloud sales growth slowed down to 22%, missing analyst expectations. Microsoft, on the other hand, exceeded expectations with a 13% overall revenue growth and a remarkable 29% increase in Azure sales.
Microsoft's success is largely attributed to their strategic generative AI investments, including ChatGPT-maker OpenAI. Satya Nadella, Microsoft's CEO, credits their "rapidly infusing AI across every layer of the tech stack" for driving productivity gains and their strong start to the fiscal year. siliconrepublic
Why does this matter?
Microsoft's recent triumph is a powerful reminder that strategic AI investments can yield substantial dividends. As generative AI continues to evolve, might we see its influence extend beyond boosting cloud earnings, perhaps into reshaping entire business models? In the grand chess board of tech giants, AI could well be the queen piece.

Amazon’s New Generative AI Tool Lets Advertisers Enhance Product Images
Amazon's AI image generation tool, currently in beta, allows advertisers to enhance product images by generating backgrounds based on descriptions and themes. This new feature harmonizes with the increasing trend of utilizing generative AI in the advertising industry to streamline creative processes and boost ad performance.
Brands including Nestlé and Unilever have reportedly hopped on this bandwagon, employing AI software like DALL-E and ChatGPT. Amazon's tool aims to reduce the friction in the ad creative process, providing a more impactful toolkit while minimizing effort, and ultimately, delivering a superior advertising experience for customers. techcrunch

AI Pioneer Daphne Koller Sees Generative AI Leading To Cancer Breakthroughs
Generative AI is pushing the frontiers in oncology in ways unimaginable before. AI pioneer Daphne Koller's firm Insitro uses a two-step process to identify drug targets for cancer treatment. First, machine learning technology analyses cancerous tissue images, extracting much more data than a human could. This method, Koller reveals, predicts genetic mutations in patients with 90-95% accuracy.
The second step requires an abundance of tissue samples, a demand met by generative AI which creates "deep fakes" of tissue images. This skyrockets the sample size from hundreds to almost 100,000, allowing the team to probe questions previously impossible due to limited samples. This approach has unveiled novel drug targets in cancers like triple-negative breast cancer. zdnet
